WCHS Students Walk In Not Out 2018 Walk UP 2018

WCHS Seniors and some Juniors joined the movement #WalkUpNotOut today.  These student leaders encouraged classmates to take a stand to encourage, inspire, motivate, listen, and talk.  They put their words into action.  The Senior Class of 2018 desires to leave a legacy of compassion and kindness.

This week, Worth County Schools recognizes our school board members for their commitment to our students.  We appreciate them year round, but this week we specifically highlight their role in our community and schools.   

WCSD 2018 Logo WCSS Code of Conduct Review Meeting

Worth County School System will meet March 26, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. at the Board of Education.  The purpose of this meeting is to review the Worth County Schools Code of Conduct with parents and community members.  


The Worth County Board of Education will hold it's regular monthly meeting on Thursday March 15, 2018 at 7:00pm in the Board Conference Room at the Board of Education located at 103 Eldridge Street Sylvester, GA.

Dayna McGrath, a student at Worth County High School, has been selected to represent Worth County, Georgia as a National Youth Correspondent to the 2018 Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University.

Accuplacer The Accuplacer - There is an App for That!

There is now an app to help students begin studying for the Accuplacer which is the college entrance exam Worth Co. JR4H - 2018 WCES Students Participate in Jump Rope for Heart

About 50 students participated in WCES's Annual Jump Rope for Heart.  Students who raise any amount of money are eligible to participate in the jump off with their grade level.  Grade level winners were:

4th grade - Shermiah Donaldson

5th grade - Spencer Daniel


Top fundraiser for this year was Kason Mullen.  He raised over $1000.


All money will be donated to the American Heart Association.

FFA Pine Shadows WCHS FFA Celebrates National FFA Week

WCHS FFA officers delivered Valentine’s Day goodies to the residents of Pine Shadows Retirement Community on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 as a way to celebrate National FFA Week.  They also visited with the residents and two of our very talented officers, Reese Hancock and Jakori Edwards, entertained them by singing and playing the piano. #RamPride

Newton and Layfield Two WCHS Seniors Receive All-State Award

WCHS Seniors and Lady Rams Softball players, Caroline Newton and Taylor Layfield, were awarded All-State Certificates by The Georgia Athletic Coaches Association.  Caroline was awarded the First Team All-State Pitcher of the Year for Class AAA an.  Taylor was awarded the First Team All-State Infielder of the Year for Class AAA.  Congratulations to both student-athletes!  We are very proud of your hard work and dedication.


Worth County Board of Education will hold a Work Session on Wednesday February 14, 2018 at 6:00 pm and it's regular monthly meeting on Thursday February 15, 2018 at 7:00 pm.  Both meetings will take place in the Board Conference Room at the Board of Education located at 103 Eldridge Street Sylvester, GA.

Read Across America Day is celebrated annually on March 2nd.  Georgia's First Lady, Sandra Deal proclaims March as "Read Across Georgia" month.  Read Across Georgia Month Kick-Off is scheduled for March 5, 2018, at the Georgia State Capitol.  Gov. Nathan Deal, first lady Sandra Deal, and other special guests will celebrate Get Georgia Reading Day and kick off Read Across Georgia Month, which supports the shared expectation that all children in Georgia will be on a pathway to third-grade reading proficiency by 2020.

Key CLub WCHS Key Club Attends Kiwanis Club Meeting

WCHS Key Club students attended the weekly Kiwanis Club meeting on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.  Students enjoyed a luncheon provided by the Kiwanis Club members.  WCHS Key Club President, Day Story, along with a few Kiwanis Club members addressed the attendees and expressed their excitement over the club’s reestablishment.  Worth County Schools Superintendent, Bill Settle, was also in attendance. 

Best Friends WCHS Students Donate to Best Friends Humane Society

WCHS Work-Based Learning (WBL) students collected pet-related items during the month of December.  Collected items will be presented during the WCHS Christmas Assembly on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 and donated to Best Friends Humane Society in Sylvester, GA.  Pictured are WCHS Seniors and WBL students, Abigail Daniel and Kasey Black.

WCMS Archery Program WCMS Offers New Archery Program

WCMS has a new archery program.  WCMS is one of the few schools in Georgia that has an archery program. Coach Mitch Mitchell and Mr. Jared Sherrard presented the details at the recent BOE meeting.

Renney WCHS Biology Students Make Blankets from Plastic Bags

Ms. Renney's Biology class applied their learning about reduce, reuse, and recycle to a community service project.  


New 2018 Worth County Schools Buses Seven New School Buses Arrive for Worth County School District

In continued efforts to update the WCSD bus fleet and keep students safe, seven new buses were purchased recently. One of the seven buses is handicapped accessible.

New WCHS College and Career Academy Front View New Worth County High School College and Career Academy Construction is Moving Along

The construction of the new Worth County High School College and Career Academy is moving along on schedule.  It is set to open in August 2018.

WCMS students had a rare opportunity to hear Holocaust Survivor, Hershel Greenblat speak about his experiences during the Holocaust.

Worth county Ram Band Logo WCHS/WCMS RAM Band Students Audition for District Honor Band

Fifteen band students from grades 8-12 passed the auditions for District Honor Band.  This is the largest group of students from Worth County Schools to achieve this honor in over a decade! Eight of those 15 scored high enough to advance to the final round of auditions for All-State Band. #RAMPRIDE

Masters of Multiplication New Masters of Multiplication at WCES

Congratulations to these 80 students who met the requirements of being Masters of Multiplication for the first time this year! Third grade students had 3 minutes to complete 60 problems (1's - 10's) and 4th and 5th grade students had 5 minutes to complete 100 problems (1's - 12's). These students pictured completed the test with 90% accuracy and earned 25 Ram Bucks and will be placed in the WCES Masters of Multiplication Hall of Fame!  These students join 151 more students who also met the requirements for Masters of Multiplication for the second time this year.  They received 10 Ram Bucks for their achievement.  The next test will be December .  Way to go, WCES Masters of Multiplication!  WCES is proud of you!



Key CLub Worth County High School Key Club Recharters After 9 Years

The Key Club is partnered with our local Kiwanis Club. They are a civic organization with the mission to provide service, build character, and develop leadership. The WCHS Key Club has rechartered with fifteen current members. Day Leigh Story was elected to serve as the 2017-2018 President. Key club has been very busy since reorganization, supporting Ram Spirit and our leadership within our school and community. Service is a key component in Key Club. This Christmas season Key Club has partnered with Teresa Parkerson, the director of Hungry at Home. This organization will provide non-perishable foods for children at our schools. They have also joined in with our Chamber of Commerce for the Christmas Clearing House. All toys collected will be distributed throughout the county. The senior members have been very excited about the re-activation of the club and they are elated about embracing their civil duties. Key Club looks forward to the many new civic endeavors that will help benefit their community and school.

Sixty WCMS Chorus students performed for the Atlanta Hawks v. Boston Celtics pregame show on November 18th. The students also enjoyed watching the game after their performance. Congratulations on an awesome performance!

2017 Worth County Schools CCRPI Worth County Schools Excel on CCRPI

The 2017 College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI) was recently released by the Georgia Department of Education and Worth County Schools showed they are among the best in Southwest Georgia.

Effective immediately, Worth County Schools will only allow access to video surveillance evidence to school principals and district-level administrators to resolve discipline issues or other behavior issues occurring in our school and on our school buses.

WCSD Veterans Thank You Veterans!

Veterans Day is a time to celebrate soldiers who have served in the armed forces at any time, during peace or war. Worth County School District is especially grateful for the brave men and women who have served in the US Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and the Coast Guard that are currently on staff.

K. Barney WCES 5th Grader Receives a Letter from President Trump

Recently, WCES 5th grader, Kyla Barney, wrote a letter to President Donald Trump in class during a writing center. She asked her teacher, Mrs. April Rogers, if she could mail it, so they looked up the White House's address and did just that.  To everyone's surprise, she received a letter from the President Trump.  Kyla and her teacher were very excited to receive this letter.  Great job, Kyla!

WCHS Softball Team 3rd Place State WCHS Lady Rams Varsity Softball Team Finishes Best Season in School History

Congratulations to our Lady Rams Varsity softball team! Our girls finished the 2017 season as the Region 1-AAA Champions and 3rd in the GHSA Class AAA State Championship. The girls also finished with an overall 29-3 record!  This was by far the best season in WCHS’s history! We are so proud of our girls and coaches!  #RAMPRIDE #RegionChampions #ThirdinState

Our American Government & Economics Teacher, Christopher Bartlett, was invited as a guest professor at Auburn University's Montgomery Campus on Thursday, September 21st.  He discussed Imperialism, its lead up to World War I, and the global issues that are still tied to it today.

Jessica Lane, WCHS Junior and winner of the 2017 Georgia High School Reader of the Year award, attended the State Superintendent's Recognition Ceremony on September 6, 2017 at the GaDOE in Atlanta.  This ceremony honored students and administrators who have achieved excellence in education during the 2016-17 school year.  We are so proud of Jessica and this huge accomplishment!

Congratulations to these 100+ students who met the requirements of being Masters of Multiplication! Third grade students had 3 minutes to complete 60 problems (1's - 10's) and 4th and 5th grade students had 5 minutes to complete 100 problems (1's - 12's). GHSA Region 1-AAA WCHS WCHS Athletics Awarded All Three GHSA Region 1-AAA Athletic Awards

Worth County High School Athletics were awarded all three of the GHSA Region 1-AAA athletic awards for the 2016-2017 school year.  This is the first time since the GHSA started presenting the three awards that one school has claimed all three awards.

Infinite Campus is our district-wide student information system.  The Infinite Campus Parent Portal provides parents with a fast and convenient way to check student grades, schedules, attendance, and other information.

The Intradistrict Transfer Right does not apply to any Title I school in our District since Worth County Schools has only one elementary, middle and high school.
