Special Education

The Worth County School System offers a range of special services at each school. Our Special Education Department serves students who are eligible for services in one or more of the following areas: mild intellectual disability, moderate intellectual disability, severe intellectual disability, profound intellectual disability, emotional and behavioral disorder, specific learning disability, hearing impairment (including deafness), other health impairment, visual impairment (including blindness), orthopedic impairment, speech and language impairment, autism, traumatic brain injury, and significant developmental delay. We use a committee to develop the Individual Education Plan which determines each students individualized needs to deliver a free appropriate public education in the student’s least restrictive environment.
Our students are served in a variety of settings including general education classrooms, resource and self-contained classrooms, as well as related vocational instructional programs. These programs and curriculum help to prepare students for work experience and transition into the community workforce.
Worth County Schools’ Special Education Programs are founded upon the belief that all children are capable of learning. We also want all children to be successful in his/her school experiences which are intended to develop academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and independence skills which are necessary to actively participate in their community.
