"Smooth Moves" for Rising 6th Graders 5th grade smooth moves ambassadors FY21

Each year rising 6th graders get a tour of Worth County Middle School prior to the end of their 5th-grade year. It was exciting to be able to host this event again this year.  The tour is guided by our WCMS 8th grade Ambassadors who share not only details of each location in the building but also some helpful tips for the students when they start their journey at WCMS.  The rising 6th graders were treated to a bottle of water after their tour.  Ambassador staff advisors are Mrs. Smith and Dr. Powell, our school counselors.  Click below to view a video from the event.

Southwest Georgia Bank Partners with WCMS Business Classes Thank you SWGa Bank for your Contribution to our Students

Our 8th-grade Foundations in Investing and Finance students benefited from the generosity of Southwest Georgia Bank who sponsored the Foundations in Personal Finance curriculum. Throughout the year, with this curriculum, students were introduced to many aspects of personal finance like saving & budgeting, credit & debt, as well as, investing, insurance & identity theft.  The curriculum included textbooks and videos. Each semester, students took home their completed text to have as a helpful resource.  WCMS and Mrs. Jodi Mitchell, CTAE Business Teacher are very thankful for the support from Southwest Georgia Bank A Division of The First, A.N.B.A. for these incredible resources and for contributing to the growth and future of our students.  We look forward to continuing this partnership in finance education.

WCMS Aeroponic Towers In Full Production Mode Cooper's Class harvest greens from aeroponic towers

WCMS aeroponic towers and classroom gardens are continuing to produce greens and other vegetables.  Mrs. Cooper's 6th-grade science classes harvested their crops recently from their aeroponic tower and taste-tested the bounty.  Students helped prep the towers and observed the growth and what is needed to produce the kale, lettuce, arugula, and baby greens.  The towers help students make connections between content standards and grow their curiosities.  They also provided a healthy treat that is a new taste to some students.  Students enjoyed the salads with remarks like, "this is different but good," and "I would eat this again."
