Meet Your Counselors


Dr. Saudia Powell


Dr. Saudia Powell is the Head Counselor at Worth County High School.  Dr. Powell was born in Bridgeport, CT, but was raised in Sylvester, GA.   Dr. Powell is honored to say that she is from "Ram Country."  She is a proud graduate of Worth County High School.  She also attended and graduated from another nearby Ram School, home of the Albany State Golden Rams with a Bachelor of Science in Business/Marketing in 1988.  She remained at Albany State University to complete her Master of Education degree in Special Education with a Concentration in Interrelated in 2002.

Dr. Powell worked as a Special Education/Inclusion teacher for 14 years (7 years at the elementary level and 7 years at the high school level).  After receiving her degree of Education Specialist in School Counseling in 2004 from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida, Dr. Powell begin her School Counseling career at Worth County High School in 2005.  She later returned to Argosy University to complete the Degree of Doctor of Education in Psychology and Behavioral Sciences. 

Dr. Powell is the wife of council member of City of Sylvester Ward 1, Melvin J. Powell and the proud mother of Rakia and Rakeem Malachi.  She is an active member of her church and a member of the Greek Organization, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  


Ms. Tara Miller


Tara Miller is the school counselor 11th grade students as well as the Dual Enrollment Coordinator for high school.  She has worked in education for 22 years and 19 of those years have been spent at the high school level.  She has over 18 years experience with Dual Enrollment.  She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology in 1994 and her Master's in School Counseling in 1997, both from Georgia Southern University.  

Ms. Miller has worked as a counselor in Brooks County, Candler County (grad student), Cobb County, Cook County (Department Head), and Tift County. She began her career at Worth County High in 2017.

Ms. Miller coached cheerleading for 12 years and is currently in her 17th year as a Georgia High School Athletic Official in competitive cheerleading and 5th year as a gymnastics official.

Ms. Miller's hometown is Tifton, GA.  She has 3 children: Colee, Ben and Summer Grace and is an active member of her church.
