Michelle Hutchinson, Director

Michelle “Miki” Hutchinson has taught in the Worth County School System for 25 years.  After 16 years of teaching music in the elementary grades, she began teaching choral music at Worth County High School in 2006.  Her choirs have performed at Columbus State University, Southern Star Music Festival, Georgia Music Educators In-Service Conference, the Savannah Music Festival, and on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship, “Sovereign of the Seas”.  While at WCHS she has also taught music appreciation and began guitar instruction in school.

During her first year as band director at Worth County High School, the band’s size has more than doubled from recent years.  The Ram Band consistently receives excellent and superior ratings at the annual GMEA District 2 Large Group Performance Evaluations as wellas are Marching Band Festivals. The WCHS Jazz Band performs annually at the ABAC Jazz Festival and at various community events.

Miki holds an MME from Auburn University and a BME from Columbus State University.  She was named 2009 STAR Teacher at WCHS. She was also named Teacher of the Year while at Sylvester Primary School.  She is a member of Georgia Music Educators Association.

Miki is a graduate of Worth County High School and was drum major in the WCHS Band, under the direction of Eugene H. Wyles.  She calls Sylvester her home.  Her son, Devin, is a graduate of Georgia Southern University and currently lives in Augusta.
