WCHS Opens Career Closet

Career Closet

Worth County High School is in the process of opening a Career Closet for our student body.  All too often students graduate from high school without a plan.  Many of them have no idea how to obtain a job, much less keep one.  This year, our goal at WCHS is to encourage our students to think beyond graduation.  They will be digging deep into what it will take to achieve the career goals they desire once they receive that long awaited diploma.

In order to promote Career Readiness and prepare our students for the workforce, we must teach them how to dress appropriately for the job interview and the job itself.  A Career Closet will enable us to teach these skills and allow our students to dress for success regardless of their financial situation.  Getting this awesome service implemented will require help from our stakeholders, which includes our faculty, staff, and our community.  Donations of new or gently worn professional clothing, hygiene items and other storage items would be ideal.  If you are willing to help us achieve our goal, you can do so by donating the following items:

Men’s and Women’s Business Attire:

  • Slacks/Pants

  • Button up shirts

  • Blouses

  • Dresses

  • Skirts

  • Socks (Preferably new)

  • Shoes

  • Ties/Belts/Jewelry/Scarves

Toiletry items (preferably travel size items)

  • Soap

  • Deodorant

  • Toothbrush/Toothpaste

  • Dental Floss

  • Combs

  • Brushes

Other Necessities:

  • Clothing racks and hangers

  • Shelves (such as Rubbermaid)

  • Plastic containers with lids

  • Shoe racks/boxes

  • Plastic recyclable bags (grocery bags)

  • Laundry detergent and dryer sheets

Any and all assistance with this project would be greatly appreciated.  Our students are our future, and we consider it a great opportunity to help make them productive citizens.  We are working diligently to prepare our students for the workplace and believe this project will be a wonderful tool.  Donations may be dropped off at Worth County High School or Snipes Piggly Wiggly.  If you need donations picked up, we will be happy to do that as well.  Please contact Heather Tomlinson or Tina Pate if you have additional questions.
