Tickets are $25 per couple and $5 for each

additional child. A picture package will be available by

gma door contest WCES Participates in GMA Door Contest

WCES teachers are in the Georgia Milestone Assessment (GMA) spirit with decorating their doors for the WCES's annual GMA Door Door Contest.  Teachers took the theme this year, "We are ready", and used it to decorate their door with positive meanings in hopes to inspire students to do their best on the GMA which is set to start next week.  Pictures of the doors are on WCES's Facebook page.  Viewers can choose which door they like the most, and at the end of the week, the door from each hall that has the most "likes" will win a prize from WCES Principal Dr. Steven Rouse.  Stay tuned to see who wins.

WC 4-H Cloverleaf Participants WCES Students Participate in DPA Project

Congratulations to the following fifth grade students for participating in the 4-H District Project Achievement (DPA) event this past weekend.  This is a public speaking contest where there were 472 students participating.  Worth County took 12 students from WCES. WCES students did very well!  All 12 students placed 4th place or higher in their presentation.  Way to go, WCES Cloverleaf 4-H!  We are very proud of you!

farm scene 3rd Grade Students Participate in Farm Project

Students in third grade recently completed a research project where they chose a type of farm that interested them.  They researched the information about that farm and completed an informational report about that farm.  Students then completed a diorama of that farm.  After presenting their report and diorama of their farm to their classmates,  students placed them on display in the media center.  These projects were fantastic!  Great job, third grade students!  To see pictures of the farms on display, click here.  

scavenger hunt 4th Grade Students Go On A Scavenger Hunt!

Recently students in fourth grade went on a scavenger hunt - a solar system scavenger hunt that is.  Clues about the solar system were hung on the 4th grade hallway.  Students then took these clues and answered questions on their scavenger hunt sheet.  Each class will participate in the hunt.  To view pictures, click here.  

BFHS Puppy Love Fundraiser is a Success!

WCES recently held their annual Puppy Love Food Drive to benefit Best Friends Humane Society of Worth County.  Students and staff members donated 2000 lbs. of dog and cat food as well as cleaning supplies.  

WCES also presented a check from the proceeds of our annual Daddy Daughter Dance to BFHS director Jody Yarborough.  

Thank you to everyone who helped in any way with this successful fundraiser!  

JR4H - 2018 WCES Students Participate in Jump Rope for Heart

About 50 students participated in WCES's Annual Jump Rope for Heart.  Students who raise any amount of money are eligible to participate in the jump off with their grade level.  Grade level winners were:

 

3rd grade - Brooklyn Youngblood

4th grade - Shermiah Donaldson

5th grade - Spencer Daniel

 

Top fundraiser for this year was Kason Mullen.  He raised over $1000.

 

All money will be donated to the American Heart Association.  

 

Way to go, WCES students!  We are proud of you!

 

 

 

Media Center Mural - panoramic New Mural at WCES!

Because of an anonymous donation, WCES was able to have local artist, Allison Kilcrease, paint this beautiful mural of popular book characters and other fun animals and quotes in the media center's story pit. Thank you, Allison, for bringing the library to life with this colorful mural. WCES would also like to thank the person or people who made this donation to our school to make all of this possible!

WCES Student purchases bicycle with RAM Bucks WCES Students use RAM Bucks to purchase items from the WCES RAM Bucks Store

Congratulations to this WCES student for working hard and saving up her Ram Bucks to purchase herself a brand new bicycle out of our Ram Buck Store! WCES students can earn Ram Bucks for positive behavior, good grades, Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, leveling up on our web-based instructional programs, etc.

At the monthly meeting, each school's Teacher of the Year was recognized and the WCSD Teacher of the Year was announced.  Congratulations Mrs. Langley from Worth County Primary School!

New Masters end of 2nd Nne Weeks New Masters of Multiplication at WCES

Congratulations to these 60+ students who met the requirements of being Masters of Multiplication for the first time this year! Third grade students had 3 minutes to complete 60 problems (1's - 10's) and 4th and 5th grade students had 5 minutes to complete 100 problems (1's - 12's). These students pictured completed the test with 90% accuracy and earned 25 Ram Bucks and will be placed in the WCES Masters of Multiplication Hall of Fame!  These students join 214 more students who also met the requirements for Masters of Multiplication this testing time.  They received 10 Ram Bucks for their achievement.  Way to go, WCES Masters of Multiplication!  WCES is proud of you!

The Board of Education approved the 2018-2019 District Calendar at the December 14th BOE Meeting.

These students pictured completed the test with 90% accuracy and earned 25 Ram Bucks and will be placed in the WCES Masters of Multiplication Hall of Fame!  These students join 151 more students who also met the requirements for Masters of Multiplication for the second time this year.  They received 10 Ram Bucks for their achievement.  The next test will be December .  Way to go, WCES Masters of Multiplication!  WCES is proud of you!

 

 

Food Drive WCES Participates in Toy and Food Drive

To help meet the needs of our WCES families, the faculty and staff at Worth County Elementary School will be conducting a toy drive and a food drive.

The 2017 College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI) was recently released by the Georgia Department of Education and Worth County Schools showed they are among the best in Southwest Georgia.

 

Notice Notice of Procedure Change: Access to Video Surveillance Evidence

Effective immediately, Worth County Schools will only allow access to video surveillance evidence to school principals and district-level administrators to resolve discipline issues or other behavior issues occurring in our school and on our school buses.

Turkey Turkeys in Disguise

Third grade students in Ms. Newton, Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Dunn, and Mrs. Willis's homerooms recently participated in the Disguise a Turkey project.  Students were given a copy of a turkey and were to use items found around their homes to dress up the turkey so that he or she would be in disguise and wouldn't be found.  Students did a great job!  To see pictures of these wonderful creations, please click on the following link:  http://www.worthschools.net/3/Gallery/552

WCSD Veterans Thank You Veterans!

Veterans Day is a time to celebrate soldiers who have served in the armed forces at any time, during peace or war. Worth County School District is especially grateful for the brave men and women who have served in the US Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and the Coast Guard that are currently on staff.

These students pictured completed the test with 90% accuracy and earned 25 Ram Bucks and will be placed in the WCES Masters of Multiplication Hall of Fame!  These students join 115 more students who also met the requirements for Masters of Multiplication for the second time this year.  They received 10 Ram Bucks for their achievement.  The next test will be November 15th.  Way to go, WCES Masters of Multiplication!  WCES is proud of you!

K. Barney WCES 5th Grader Receives a Letter from President Trump

Recently, WCES 5th grader, Kyla Barney, wrote a letter to President Donald Trump in class during a writing center. She asked her teacher, Mrs. April Rogers, if she could mail it, so they looked up the White House's address and did just that.  To everyone's surprise, she received a letter from the President Trump.  Kyla and her teacher were very excited to receive this letter.  Great job, Kyla!

flu shot Flu Shots at WCES!

The Worth County Health Department will be coming to Worth County Elementary School this year on September 19, 2017 to offer the flu vaccine. They will offer one type of vaccine, Inactivated Injectable Influenza Virus Vaccine, which is given as a shot. Consent forms will be sent home this week. Please make sure to completely fill out the form. Participation of the vaccine through this program is voluntary. Please contact Nurse Leaynn Roberts or your health provider with any questions! Completed forms are due by September 12, 2017. No forms will be accepted after this date.

Character Education - Respect for the Environment Character Ed. Rocks at WCES!!

Character Rocks at W.C.E.S.!!

As a part of the Worth County Elementary School Character Education program, students now have the opportunity to participate in our Character Rocks at W.C.E.S. program. Each week, a new character trait is announced during morning announcements. Starting Monday, August 21, 2017, three student Character Rocks will be hidden throughout the Worth County Elementary School campus. A student who finds a rock will report to the school counselor to claim a prize and have their picture taken.

The character education word of the week is: Respect for the Environment which means the conservation and care of your surroundings.

It's that time of year! Our annual Fall PTO Fundraiser starts today and runs through September 11th. Once again this year students will be selling resealable bags of popcorn as well an assortment of candy and other delicious snacks. Students will bring home their brochure and other information about the fundraiser today. All money earned goes right back to the students of WCES by funding our family fun events, purchasing student incentives, student technology, etc. Thank you in advance for your continued support of WCES!!!
