At the monthly meeting, each school's Teacher of the Year was recognized and the WCSD Teacher of the Year was announced.  Congratulations Mrs. Langley from Worth County Primary School!

GMAS Georgia Milestones Study Guides

GMAS Study Guides for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades are now available.  Students are encouraged to make use of these study guides to get prepared for the Milestones.

Muffins and Mom WCMS Muffins With Mom 2018

Welcome mothers, grandmothers, and guardians to Muffins with Mom on Friday, February 9th at 8:15 in the WCMS cafeteria.  Come have orange juice or milk and a muffin with your child, and join in on the  activities that are planned.  RSVP is required.

WCMS fundraiser 2018 Logo WCMS Candy & Collegiate Items Fundraiser 2018

It's fundraising time here at WCMS! Take a look at all the collegiate items and candies. Our campaign will begin on Wednesday, February 28th. All Orders are due in by Friday, March 16th. For more information, contact our Parent and Family Engagement Coordinator, Mrs. Jaki Johnson.  All proceeds from this campaign will go towards meeting the needs of the students at WCMS. FCA Prayer at the Pole Jan 10 FCA Meeting

WCMS students met for prayer at the flag pole on January 10th. FCA sponsors a monthly meeting which takes place at the flag pole on the first Wednesday of every month.

The Board of Education approved the 2018-2019 District Calendar at the December 14th BOE Meeting.

The TIE and GEMS Club had their first annual dinner on Friday, December 15, 2017.

WCMS Archery Program WCMS Offers New Archery Program

WCMS has a new archery program.  WCMS is one of the few schools in Georgia that has an archery program. Coach Mitch Mitchell and Mr. Jared Sherrard presented the details at the recent BOE meeting.

Holocaust Survivor, Hershel Greenblat speaks at WCMS Holocaust Survivor Speaks at WCMS

WCMS students had a rare opportunity to hear Holocaust Survivor, Hershel Greenblat speak about his experiences during the Holocaust.

Worth county Ram Band Logo WCHS/WCMS RAM Band Students Audition for District Honor Band

Fifteen band students from grades 8-12 passed the auditions for District Honor Band.  This is the largest group of students from Worth County Schools to achieve this honor in over a decade! Eight of those 15 scored high enough to advance to the final round of auditions for All-State Band. #RAMPRIDE

Coach Holton along with the other coaches hosted a Football Banquet for the football players at WCMS on Saturday, December 2nd from 12:30 p.m. to  2:30 p.m.

Jr. Beta Convention Jr. Beta Club Convention

From November 29 to December 1, 2017, seven members of the WCMS Jr Beta Club attended the state convention in Savannah.

WCMS choir at Hawks WCMS Choir Performs at Hawks Game

Sixty WCMS Chorus students performed for the Atlanta Hawks v. Boston Celtics pregame show on November 18th. The students also enjoyed watching the game after their performance. Congratulations on an awesome performance!

Students at WCMS participated in the annual Social Science Fair.  Students have worked since September to complete projects. 

2017 Worth County Schools CCRPI Worth County Schools Excel on CCRPI

The 2017 College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI) was recently released by the Georgia Department of Education and Worth County Schools showed they are among the best in Southwest Georgia.

 

Linda Dutil presentation Linda Dutil, RN - A Dose of Reality

Linda Dutil is an emergency room nurse who speaks to students about the consequences of drug use and underage drinking.  She gave her presentation, "A Dose of Reality" to the 7th and 8th grade students.

WCMS will be giving away fifteen Christmas food baskets to parents and guardians that are in need of assistance.  

Notice Notice of Procedure Change: Access to Video Surveillance Evidence

Effective immediately, Worth County Schools will only allow access to video surveillance evidence to school principals and district-level administrators to resolve discipline issues or other behavior issues occurring in our school and on our school buses.

Jr. Beta Jr. Beta Induction Ceremony

The WCMS Jr. Beta Induction Ceremony was held on November 7th, 2017.  New members were inducted in the club.

Vet Veteran's Day Celebration

WCMS had two Veteran's Day Celebrations.  One celebration was for our staff members who have served in the Armed Forces and the other celebration was for parents and grandparents who have served.

WCSD Veterans Thank You Veterans!

Veterans Day is a time to celebrate soldiers who have served in the armed forces at any time, during peace or war. Worth County School District is especially grateful for the brave men and women who have served in the US Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and the Coast Guard that are currently on staff.

 

Kiwanis WCMS Students Speak at Kiwanis

Worth County Middle School (WCMS) students were given the opportunity of observing a Kiwanis Club meeting, enjoying lunch with them, and speaking to them on a selected subject matter.

Come meet with ABAC, ASU, and SRTC representatives as well as the WCHS Dual Enrollment Coordinator on Tuesday, November 14th at 5:30 p.m. in the WCHS Media Center.  This is an informational meeting for parents of students in grades 8 - 11.

Parent Survey GaDOE Georgia Parent Survey 2017-2018

Please take a moment to complete the GaDOE Georgia Parent Survey.  It contains 24 questions, and parents are able to complete the survey using their personal computers, smartphones, tablets or iPads.  For parents who do not have access to the Internet, please contact your school to set up a time to complete the Georgia Parent Survey at school.  All parents are encouraged to complete the Georgia Parent Survey.  The data from this survey will be used to calculate the School Climate Star Rating.  Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.  The Georgia Parent Survey is also available in Spanish. Parents may select the Spanish version within the survey. E Club Environmental Club of WCMS Adopts a Street

The WCMS Environmental Club is participating in the Adopt-a-Street program as a beautification partnership between the City of Sylvester and its citizens to remove litter from the streets.  The goal is to keep our city cleaner and safer. The Environmental Club, lead by Mrs. Brent Joyner and Mrs. Jennifer Easom, have adopted Isabella street from the corner Bryant Drive to the CVS parking lot.

Awards WCMS Students Recognized for August & September Awards

Students are awarded each month for perfect attendance, good behavior, and having no bus referrals.  The students receive $10.00 and a certicificate.   The August and September award winners are: 

FFA WCSD Students Compete In State Goat and Lamb Show

Worth County FFA and 4-H Livestock Exhibitors traveled to Perry Ga. to compete in The Georgia 4-H and FFA State Market Goat and Lamb Show.

National School Lunch Week 2017 Worth County Schools Celebrate National School Lunch Week 2017

October 9 - 13, 2017 is National School Lunch Week (NSLW).  The #NSLW17 theme is "School Lunch:  Recipes for Success."

Worth County Middle School will hold its annual Title I meeting on Thursday, September 7, 2016 from 5:30 – 6:30 PM.

rise up WCMS is Selected for the RISE UP! 159 Program Sponsored by the Atlanta Falcons

The RISE UP! 159 project is a special program designed by the Atlanta Falcons to bring free equipment and flag football curriculum to schools in Georgia. Only 159 schools in the state were chosen (one school in every county). Thanks to swift action by Coach Popham and Coach Mitchell who submitted our application quickly, WCMS was one of the chosen schools.  Randomly-selected students received t-shirts, water bottles, and stickers which came in the NFL Flag Football Kit that was sent to the schools of the RISE UP! 159 project.

Infinite Campus is our district-wide student information system.  The Infinite Campus Parent Portal provides parents with a fast and convenient way to check student grades, schedules, attendance, and other information.
