WCHS DECA Attends DECA Day at Atlanta Hawks

DECA 2018

Last Friday, DECA attended the DECA Day at Atlanta Hawks. As this is a very popular event for our DECA students, they have to compete in DECA competitions during the school year to attend.

During the DECA Day, two of the main activities are the knockout on the court challenges and the marketing competitions.
Knockout Challenges: Seven students were chosen to represent our chapter in the knockout challenges. While all of the students did exceptionally well, one student, Gabe Goff, won his knockout challenge out of about 30 students. He received two tickets to the Hawks vs Lakers game.
Marketing Competitions:  There are two competitions in this area.  Students are divided into groups of four to six within their chapter.  These groups are given marketing scenarios where they have to create marketing ideas within a 10-15 minute timeframe.  Worth DECA had two different groups win BOTH marketing competitions winning money for our chapter.  Faith Adkins, Bailey Coker, Emerald Day, Cason King, and Cameryn Lewis won the Social Media marketing competition.  Kayla Martin, Megan Avery, Ariuna Johnson, and Zalen Timmons won the Jr Hawks Marketing competition.
In addition to these activities, the students were also able to meet the marketing team for the Atlanta Hawks and learn about careers in marketing.  And then, of course, they were able to enjoy the Hawks vs Cavaliers game that evening.
If you see any of these students, please congratulate them. #RamPride
